Diverting mail
There are several benefits to diverting your University mail to SUCS. The most obvious benefit is that you only have to check one e-mail address. It takes pressure off the University mail servers, which are frequently very busy, and so should speed up delivery of mail. It will also allow you to check your University mail from anywhere in the world, as you can telnet to SUCS and pick it up, or use the SUCS POP3 server.
You cannot forward mail by changing settings in Pegasus Mail, as the changes are not retained. The way to do it is as follows:
- Double click on My Computer and open p: within that.
- Rename p:\pmail to something else, e.g. pmailold by right clicking the directory and selecting Rename from the menu that appears.
- Create a new directory by right-clicking a white space in the p: window, and selecting New, Folder.
- Rename the directory to pmail by right clicking it and selecting Rename.
- Copy all files except pmxf.ini from pmailold to pmail.
- Create a new text document in pmail by right clicking a white space in the pmail directory, and selecting New, Text Document.
- Call the file pmxf.ini
- Open the file in notepad, and enter the following:
Local autoforward=user@sucs.swan.ac.uk
Internet autoforward=user@sucs.swan.ac.uk
where user is your username.
